Jen McGahan, massage therapist and writer

Hi there, I'm Jen.

Licensed massage therapist. Manual Lymph Drainage practitioner. Writer.

LMT #133242, CMLDT #77442CA

I believe in the healing power of touch and the body's innate ability to heal. Several years ago, while taking a friend to receive MLD, I saw first-hand the amazing therapeutic benefits of lymphatic massage and knew one day I would serve others with this modality.

Today I practice in-home massage therapy for clients in west Austin, including Bee Cave, Lakeway, and Spicewood; as well as North Austin, including Round Rock, Pflugerville, Cedar Park, and Georgetown. I love what I do, and hope to soon open a therapeutic clinic in the local area.

I incorporate essential oils into my practice when it's appropriate, and make blends for specific purposes. (Ask me about Raindrop therapy -- It's a favorite!)

I'm a mom to two young men and a deceased daughter. I'm a sister, a daughter, and a friend to many.

As a former marketing agency owner of 14 years, I know my way around digital marketing and (sometimes) still write copy and content for clients in the health and wellness field. I've always made sense of things through writing and journaling; I've published scads of articles and authored a few books.

I'm a reader, art prowler, avid walker, trail runner, quilt lover, and hummus fiend. (I make a big batch every week.)

Qualities I most admire in people are kindness, curiosity, logic, and a sense of humor.

Favorite quote: "Would that life were like the shadow cast by a wall or a tree... but it is like the shadow of a bird in flight." – Warren Wiersbe

Writing

A family friend brought me a blank book on the day I turned eleven. She told me I could write anything I wanted. She gifted me with the lifelong belief that I was a writer.

For many years, I wrote copy for websites and online marketers. I've also written poetry and short stories not fit for publishing.

Today, I attempt to make sense of the world by journaling, and by writing articles, essays, and books.

I publish content of all sorts (not necessarily about health and wellness, nor lymphatic massage therapy) on Medium.com.

Essential Oils

Nature holds the key to health and wellness. We have only begun to discover and document the therapeutic potential of the plant world.

I'd love for everyone to have access to theĀ wonders of essential oilsĀ and to learn how these and other plant products are superior to lab-created substances.Ā

Massage Therapy

Boosting the body's natural immunity is an obsession of mine. I enjoy sharing the profound therapeutic effects of massage with others.

As a licensed massage therapist, my favorite modalities are the Raindrop Technique using essential oils, and manual lymphatic drainage.
